| | Social Loafing Research Social loafing is the tendency to reduce individual effort when working in groups compared to the individual effort expended when working alone. Although a substantial amount of research has been conducted in both laboratory and classroom environment, little if any research has been conducted regarding the impact or existence of social loafing in the online environment. My research in this area seeks to identify whether there is a perception of social loafing in online learning groups and if so, what impact this perception has in online learning groups. | | |
Vodcasting in Education A Vodcast is a video file that is distributed via the internet generally using syndication (RSS) or Atom feeds. Users can subscribe to vodcasts and receive new video content on demand. Vodcasts can be captured and watched by utilizing an aggregator ( podcatcher ) on a personal computer, TV, or media center. These videos can then be downloaded to iPods or other handheld video players that support MP4 or Mv4 formats. Vodcasts may take the form of TV shows, movies, or other video content created by non-professionals.
My research in this area focuses on whether or not students perceive an increased learning benefit when vodcasting is implemented in the academic environment. Little, if any, research has been conducted to determine the efficacy of implementing blogging and vlogging in education. My research seeks to identify user perceptions as well as track web statistics regarding student use of educational vodcasts. This research is being conducted via my current Aviation Trainer Vlog at www.aviationtrainer.com/vlog.
Flight School XXI Research The U.S. Army Aviation Center (USAAVNC) at Fort Rucker, Alabama recently implemented a long-term 1.1 billion dollar investment in a new simulation complex that includes 38 aviation training simulators as well as 18 reconfigurable simulation devices that can communicate for various mission simulations. This implementation was the result of concerns over the aging simulation fleet and its inconsistencies with flightline aircraft.
My research in this area focuses on the transfer of training effect between the TH-67 and the simulator, program effectiveness, and comparative analysis between FS XXI and Legacy flight school.
